Death protection & attack speed

Higher levels bring greater death protection. Your vocation and equipment shape how quickly you attack.

More protection as you level

The normal loss percentage decreases steadily from its original value at level 1 until level 200. At level 200 and above, it is 5% without promotion or blessings, 3.5% with promotion alone, or 1% with promotion and five blessings.

Percentages apply to accumulated experience, skill tries and mana spent—not to the experience needed for your next level. Each example starts at exactly the listed level, with no progress toward the next level. The smaller line shows experience lost and your resulting level. PvP unfair-fight reductions, loss exemptions and event rules can reduce the actual loss.

Partial blessings count too. Before the level-based reduction, each blessing removes one percentage point from the configured base; promotion removes three. At level 200, each of the first five blessings removes half a percentage point from the 5% endpoint, and promotion removes 1.5 points. An additional blessing never increases your loss.

Attack speed: equipment and mastery

The Attack Speed item enchantment belongs to melee weapons only—swords, axes and clubs. Bows, crossbows, throwing weapons, wands, rods and armor do not receive that enchantment. Dexterity mastery is a separate vocation bonus to basic attacks; it does not make spell casts faster.

Paladin / Royal Paladin+2.5%+5%+10%1,818 ms
Sorcerer / Master Sorcerer0%0%0%2,000 ms
Druid / Elder Druid0%0%0%2,000 ms

Intervals above isolate mastery: no item or guild speed bonus. A 12% attack-rate bonus divides the base interval by 1.12; it is not a 12% interval reduction. Melee enchantment tiers roll 1.1–1.2×, 1.2–1.3× or 1.3–1.4×. Item, guild and mastery multipliers combine up to 1.5× the weapon-adjusted base rate, with a 500 ms minimum interval. Training beside a Training Gargoyle doubles the final interval.

Choose what your hunt needs

Knight — hold the line
Vitality offers the strongest mastery damage-reduction cap, 6%. Dexterity supports sustained weapon attacks; Strength supports offense. Favor survival when holding several creatures, then improve damage as your equipment catches up.
Paladin — sustained ranged damage
Dexterity gives up to 10% basic attack speed even though ranged weapons cannot roll the melee speed enchantment. Balance offense with Vitality's 4% damage-reduction cap when hunting alone.
Sorcerer — spell damage
The vocation's PvE mastery damage cap is 14%. Arcane supports mana management; Dexterity offers spell cooldown reduction up to 6%, not faster wand attacks. Avoid sacrificing all survival for damage.
Druid — healing and control
Insight can improve healing of other players by up to 8%; that bonus excludes self-healing. Mana management and cooldown reduction support team healing. Solo players can prioritize a more balanced allocation.

These are tradeoffs, not mandatory builds. All four vocations share a 10% mastery PvP damage cap. See the complete mastery tables for per-point scaling, regeneration, leech and reset rules.
