Equipment upgrades and crystals

Understand rarity, tier, upgrade caps, crystal actions and the actual risk of upgrading equipment.

Rarity controls attribute slots: Common has one, Rare two, Epic three and Legendary four. Tier influences eligible attribute strength. Upgrade level is the item’s separate +level enhancement. A Legendary item is not automatically the highest tier or maximum upgrade.

Inspect your item’s tooltip and compare its actual attributes to your build. Appearance alone does not establish its combat value.

Read the in-game confirmation before consuming a crystal. Fortune changes an attribute’s value; it does not promise an improvement.

Maximum upgrade levels

EquipmentMaximum
Melee and distance weapons+5
Armor and shields+5
Legs+4
Helmets+3
Necklaces+2
Boots and rings+1

Eligibility still depends on the individual item. An unsupported item type is not made upgradable by this table.

Upgrade risk is real

Attempts to +1, +2 and +3 succeed at 100%, 80% and 60%. A failed +2 or +3 attempt consumes the crystal and reduces the current upgrade level. Starting at +4, an unprotected failure can destroy the item.

In the current implementation, protected attempts to +4 and +5 succeed at 30% and 20%. Without a catalyst, the confirmation path uses a strict roll: success is 29% and 19%, respectively. A failed protected attempt consumes the catalyst and crystal; an unprotected failure destroys the equipment and crystal. These are different paths, so the old guide’s unspecified “??” odds are not sufficient.

Carry the catalyst in your inventory and read the warning. Cancel if the protection or target is not what you intended.

Fit upgrades into your build

More leech or speed on equipment does not remove the combined mastery limits. Compare the finished item’s value to crystal costs and failure risk. Upgrade a replacement before risking the only item you depend on for a hunt.

Quest and loot progression

Cylria story rewards are fixed Epic T3 equipment with three useful attributes. Anni 2.0 awards one fixed Epic T4 weapon with +3 weapon skill, +3% physical damage and +5 health on kill, plus 250,000 banked gold and 10 enchantment crystals. Advanced hunts yield T4 equipment. Native pinnacle encounters yield T5; equipment from ordinary Epic Arena waves is capped at T4. Rekindling Phoenix is T4; Accursed Ether and its second phase are T5.

Equipment power and legacy items

T5 keeps the former T3 attribute limits. T1 and T2 retain their ranges; T3 and T4 use intermediate ranges. Rarity still controls one to four attribute slots. Existing items keep their tier and rarity; over-limit legacy rolls are capped to the new range on access, with their original slot values saved as recovery metadata. Existing upgraded weapons retain their upgrade increments when persisted base attack, defense or hit chance is adjusted.

Tier 3-5 rarity crystal

The tier 3-5 rarity crystal (34011) can be charged using eligible T3, T4 or T5 equipment and can upgrade rarity on any of those tiers when fully charged. It never changes equipment tier. T1 and T2 crystals remain specific to their own tier. Normal charging restrictions still apply: common or enchanted donor items cannot charge a crystal.

Endgame weapons

Anni weapons are the dependable T4 milestone. Ether-family melee weapons have 66 attack, 40 defense and +4 weapon skill; Phoenix drops are T4 and Ether drops are T5. Morgaroth two-handed sword and axe have 78 attack and 25 defense. Zugurosh one-handed melee weapons have 68 attack and 35 defense. These weapons use a 1,000 ms configured attack interval. The celestial bow uses bolts and has +20 attack and +18 hit chance; the firey bow uses arrows and has +16 attack, +15 hit chance and range 7. Actual attack timing also depends on vocation and combat bonuses. Ferumbras can also drop the existing gilded eldritch wand as T5 loot; its existing weapon script supports both sorcerers and druids.
